Privacy, in plain language

We're a volunteer-run nonprofit, not a company with a legal team, so here's a plain explanation of how we handle your information instead of a wall of legal text.

What we collect

  • If you fill out our volunteer application, we collect your name, email, and whatever else you choose to share about your background and availability.
  • If you join our Discord server, that's run by Discord, not us. Anything you share there follows Discord's own privacy terms, not ours.
  • This website itself doesn't use tracking cookies or analytics, and we don't sell or rent your information to anyone.

What we do with it

Volunteer applications go straight to our founding team for review. We use it to decide who to bring on and to follow up by email, usually within 1-2 weeks. We don't add you to a mailing list, and we don't pass your information to any third party beyond the tools we use to run it, which today is just Google Forms.

We keep applications only as long as we need them to make a decision and follow up. If you'd like yours deleted at any point, whether you're joining the team or not, just ask.

No patient information, ever

None of our forms or channels are set up to collect protected health information, and we never ask for or want it. Every clinical case discussed on the podcast, in the Hub, or in The Guider's Log is fictional or a fully anonymized composite. If you're ever unsure whether something is appropriate to share, the safest move is not to share it, and to flag it to a moderator.

Questions, or want your data removed?

Email us at guidemdfoundation@gmail.com and we'll sort it out directly. Because we're small, that actually works.
